About this page
Around Milan a chess club is nearly always an amateur sports association, an ASD, affiliated to the Italian chess federation. Inside the city the larger ones keep a regular week: Accademia Scacchi Milano in Via De Amicis, the Scacchistica Milanese in Via San Faustino with its Saturday rapids, Paul Morphy in Via Sant’Uguzzone with tournament nights, free play and a children’s school on separate days. Mimosa International and the Moto Club share a calendar of evening events and festivals in Via Washington.
Outside the city, Cinisello Balsamo opens its room four times a week, Lainate meets on Saturday mornings and for Friday rapids, and Cavalli & Segugi in Robecchetto con Induno runs a long autumn open and a blitz circuit. Carugate, Cormano, Legnano, Vimercate, Lissone, Lentate sul Seveso and Ceriano Laghetto each have a club of their own. Several affiliated clubs publish nothing about their week, and their cards say so; for those, a message before a first visit is the sensible start.
